0·24 days agoYeah he didn’t get illegal orders, he gave illegal orders and unless Trump is going to say “everyone in my administration is pardoned of all acts performed during their time in my administration” he is clearly guilty of ordering people to be murdered without any due process.

0·26 days agoWell someone convinced Trump to divide the Republicans into groups apparently, so they’ll probably split into Repugnant, Repulsive, and the Democrats will find a way to split into Corporate centrists and progressives, why… Because they can’t possibly take advantage of a divide and try to win back both houses

0·27 days agoMaybe he just weighed the ups/downs for the moment. He didn’t have the bot farms up trying to convince people to vote for Trump and sway public opinion anymore maybe. Maybe he made the call that exposing accounts and introducing the idea he can expose them a threat to any political upstarts wanting to take the next monarchy grasp. He can expose the accounts he wants, while spending less money having to combat any political opposition that may want to run similar campaign tactics that they used.
There are members who wanted to go further into “America first” bologna, maybe he realized that won’t be beneficial for him long term finally

0·30 days agoDon’t think that is what it is about, I think what it means is unless you come from a family who can afford to assist you financially when you are going to a good nursing school, you won’t be able to complete it using loans made available for a “non-prefessional” trade. Maybe I read that wrong but it sounds like if you need over 100k loans to finish nursing school (maybe some students start going for nursing and then probably proceed to doctorates I assume) basically making it so if you come from a poor background but get good grades and qualify academically, you will hit ceilings of where you can go to school based off income.
Hopefully someone can point out if I am misunderstanding that.
Edit: maybe it’s the iron dome Trump wanted, strengthening the glass ceiling to am iron dome that the poor can’t penetrate easily, and those above it can operate as “greaters” above the laws and above their true peers. Class war

Not sure exactly how that works, but I assume you have to let them know where you are going to be in advance and they figure out who is going to be there and set perimeter and everything else, which if you are nervous I imagine you fall into a “I should prepare for this interview” having hours/possibly days to do so.

politics @lemmy.world•The hysteria over Biden's pardons seems extra ridiculous now
0·1 month agoIt was absolutely ridiculous he pardoned his family and shit, but it was absolutely necessary because the person entering office had campaigned on trying to arrest them on anything and everything without ever being able to show any proof or solid claims about what they were trying to arrest any of them for. Biden would have been an idiot not to do the pardons. But the real key was Biden trying to get congress to put it in writing that a president wasn’t immune from prosecution for acts performed as president. He wasn’t choosing the wording, congress was supposed to legislate it… Yet they didn’t want too, which says to me that there was a lot of members in Congress that wanted a king.

0·1 month agoIt’s not “those who will be targeted,” it’s those who broke the law. How is it that a group can claim they should arrest and detain/deport people for filling out a piece of paper wrong 14 years ago that had nothing to do with fraud, embezzlement, or hurting anyone. Just trying to work a 9-5 and provide for their families, yet this group can turn around and support people who are openly admitting they have committed crimes and should commit more while asking others to commit crimes to stay out of prison in the future.

0·2 months agoWhen you control the media, you have an endless amounts of ignorant or gullible people to swindle.
You tell 300 million people that a man is a gang member, a criminal, a terrible person and they are the cause of the problems around you. They are the reason you see murders on the news everyday.
You don’t need evidence, you just say it. Then Noem says it, then some random racist cherry picks incidents to show as evidence. Fox focuses all their interviews around pointing blame at them without usually actually saying it directly. Newsmax repeats it. CBS, NBC, CNN all call them alleged criminals.
So 300 million people keep hearing and seeing it and some start to repeat it. Still without any actual evidence. And you are giving people an easy way out. My problems aren’t my own, the people who are around me are struggling because *checks notes… the people who were causing less crime, oops can’t say that. The people who are different than me, are causing it. Some of them even have their own cultures or languages that I don’t understand! It must be their fault. It wasn’t like this when people grew up in (pulls out rose tinted glasses and makes excuses for everything bad that happened during those times).
Life only gets worse as wealth becomes scarce. Wealth becomes scarce for the majority when it gets hoarded by the few.
Why did life appear to get better for a number of years, what was the great depression, maybe charts like these show something…

It should be 90% of the population voting to spread the wealth. Yet with the media controlled by the wealthy, we are easier to manipulate

Fediverse@lemmy.world•There's a lot of discussion of Mississippi's age verification law for social media today, after Bluesky announced they're blocking the state.English
1·4 months agohttps://constitution.congress.gov/browse/essay/artIV-S1-5-1/ALDE_00013024/
If you are fined in one state they will ask your state to enforce the penalty and they are usually legally required to do so by the federal government.
The part of Mississippi saying it may have criminal punishments as well may have more leeway, as you won’t get extradited if it isn’t a felony in most states. But we don’t know what the criminal charges would be. At 10,000 per user signed up from their state though, I’d be weary.
Just be careful, I’m just saying it’s risky. I can see them ceasing your assets in another state because it follows the current laws. Otherwise if you found someone guilty in a state court you would just move to another state and be fine, which we know doesn’t work, or people like the my pillow guy would just move out of Minnesota where he was found guilty, to say Texas.

Fediverse@lemmy.world•There's a lot of discussion of Mississippi's age verification law for social media today, after Bluesky announced they're blocking the state.English
2·4 months agoI don’t need to explain anything. If you want to host something with content that is illegal in another state and you choose to not put up any protections to block users from accessing the content in that state, you very well may be sued some day. If you block users from signing up from those states and/or block those IP addresses from accessing your site, you likely would have grounds for it to be dismissed before ever having to do anything. State lines do not protect you against lawsuits.

Fediverse@lemmy.world•There's a lot of discussion of Mississippi's age verification law for social media today, after Bluesky announced they're blocking the state.English
5·4 months agoThe way I view it is that Bluesky is a new company that is growing fast, while a site like Pornhub has been around longer and I’m sure has a large legal team that monitors laws all the time. If Pornhub said it was better to cut their losses and see if waiting out and or not seeing a good legal standing to fight with these states, Bluesky likely didn’t have much of a chance.
