Everyone who still has an R by their name is a fascist.
There is a path to redemption, and recognizing your past mistakes is part of that.
You know, it puts a smile on my face every time, that someone recognizes me.
The cancer is more advanced than we had imagined.
I hear what you’re saying, but Little t is a symptom, just like Hitler was a symptom.
It’s like “Goddamn it, I wish my stomach didn’t hurt all the time.” Doctor: “You have pancreatric cancer.”
Didn’t Ford just say that there wouldn’t be “significant price hikes”?
Ford CFO Sherry House told reporters that it expects US car prices to edge up 1% to 1.5% in the second half of 2025 as a result of tariffs on both imported cars and auto parts. The announcement came as part of Ford’s first-quarter earnings report, which showed a sharp drop in profits.
But today:
Prices on the Mustang Mach-E electric SUV, Maverick pickup and Bronco Sport will increase by as much as $2,000 on some models, according to a notice sent to dealers reviewed by Reuters.
In case you were wondering, 1.5% of the ~$30K price of a Maverick is $450. $2000 is ~6.7% of $30K. Ford understated their tariff-induced price hike by more than four times.
“like hiring the captain of the Titanic to teach navigation”
I have to refer to this podcast, which is brilliant, and puts the ill-fated journey of Titanic in terms I hadn’t heard before. There were so many things that went just the right (wrong) way, and it’s pretty clear that up until the point of impact, nobody did anything wrong, considering the conventional wisdom of the time.
Of course they are. That’s what they do. What do you think all the election denialism is about? Every accusation is a confession.
Why not keep it going, so that if you want to, you can purchase the least efficient products?
If they weren’t rich, they’d just be crazy people, with no national impact.
Wealth is power. The only way to effect change is to seriously threaten wealth.
Work supplied, but thanks.
Tell me what to get for my stupid iPhone.
If there’s one thing I know about English majors, it’s that they enjoy all words jokes.
I feel like this speaks to the usefulness of faith as much as it does to the cult-blindness of the damned.
This is ultimately going to take everyone, at every level of risk and action. Every individual person has a level of risk they’re willing to take on right now. As the landscape of this conflict evolves, you may find yourself willing to take on more risk than you’re prepared to today.
So - do things which either match the risk level you align with today:
… or things which will prepare you to take larger risks when you’re ready to (or have to):
There are all sorts of low-risk things you can do today. For every “front line infantry” in a conflict, there need to be ten or so people acting as support services, many of them way away from direct physical danger to themselves. It’s going to take all of us, pulling together in a variety of ways, all efforts great and small. This isn’t going to end soon, and it’s not going to be pretty. Get prepared for the long haul, with the mindset that you may find yourself doing things tomorrow that you would never imagine today. Make yourself a little more prepared as often as you can.
What do you want us to do?
Get ready. Whatever that means for you today, do it. Be creative, and get a little bit out of your comfort zone. Reassess what those mean tomorrow; lather, rinse, repeat.
So far. Because the damage from completely fucking everything up is still ongoing, and will cost even more to fix, once the war is over.
This is not how SCOTUS decisions are handled. State legislatures passing resolutions (Oklahoma did this, too, right?) shouldn’t be relevant to the Court at all. Of course, Thomas may well pen a response outlining exactly what fascists would need to do to get a winning case before the Court, as a treat.
Anyway, while this is painfully stupid, and certainly a test balloon, this carries zero weight whatsoever. We are in bizzaroland, though, so who knows.
