A lot of the worst stuff the us government does tends to be bipartisan. This one was a veto proof majority. We can still be mad he didn’t veto, but yeah

Not a security guy but I heard there’s a whole term for it, “one-click attacks”
extra workload
I assume they’d use syndication software that could plug into mastodon as well as the proprietary networks. If they’re already syndicating posts between twitter Facebook and Instagram one more network shouldn’t be too much effort.
Maybe we could do better with smaller ais that are fine tuned (or RAG idk I’m not a programmer) on a specific code base + documentation + topical forum
A lot of Russian “tankies” believe this unironically tho - that Putin should demonstratively purge the corrupt high command (which really is corrupt), nationalize our heavy industry such as car manufacturers, and force mobilize the masses to work on those plants, because otherwise we are at a real risk of losing to some stupid khokhols and their american overlords.
They don’t understand that Putin runs on personal loyalty first and foremost and purging anyone for mere corruption and incompetence is unthinkable (he is merciless to people he sees as traitors however). It’s not how the system works at a fundamental level
Maybe it would be cool to have an interactive version where you could click on any two nodes and it would tell you the actual distance
No, the key fragment is just a bit of text you can send to them by whatever secure side channel you want down to handing them a flash drive. Then when you need to recover the key you ask for it back
Why would you need a password if you already have a private key?
Also, one possible way to manage private keys is to split the key (and the risk/burden) using shamir’s secret sharing and use that process for key recovery if you ever lose it. For example you split it among 6 people you trust and to recover the key, 4 of them need to give you a fragment of it.
in the end we end up using containers afaict
I’m Russian and also a socialist, believe me I love that book too! in fact there was a character named Molly in it that voiced similar sentiments about animalism being unpopular ;)
In fact the war itself was also popular in 1914, everyone was raring to go and show those dam frenchmen what for. But surely it’s obvious the German people at large were wrong not to believe the communists!
And a tragedy that it took direct experience of the devastation and millions of casualties for them to change their minds about it and stage a revolution in 1918.
What happened in Germany after the communist revolution is a whole other story of course.
I was trying to draw a comparison to how the KPD formed in the first place. they were a group within the spd who were horrified at their colleagues voting in support of a brutal imperialist war and left (or rather were kicked out) of the party. Imo there has to be a moral line somewhere after which you refuse to vote for or even be in government with someone.
And it is not just the uk’s system of elections, as I mentioned this pattern happens across all of Europe and the United States, which leads me to also believe it’s an inherent feature of “liberal” bourgeois democracy and the kpd were right to roll the dice and try to fight it through non electoral means.
Same but for my mom
I mean, we’re seeing the same thing (sans the communist orgs) play out in real time across Europe now. In Britain, labor purges Jeremy corbyn and his ilk, then gets elected with a solid mandate, then promises to gut the NHS and promotes transphobic policies (for no material benefit) in the name of coalition building anyway.
Like what distinguishes these “bipartisan” labourists and their american equivalents from the Tories except different colored hats? Would you also blame corbyn for running against these people?
To be fair it’s not a mysterious “they”, it’s just an option available for channel owners to set alternative thumbnails and then check which does better. I don’t think YouTube does this by itself if the uploader doesn’t enable it
There’s a long tail of servers/bartenders who are against this as well because they work at expensive establishments and make bank off tips. Like high double digits an hour.
If the push to convert tips into wages ever becomes serious, conservative media will do its best to platform and promote these servers who stand to lose income off it. We gotta think of a rhetoric/messaging strategy to counter that.
Am I missing something? I thought you weren’t required to put a return address on postcards. Just put your username and email.
Op’s take is not reasonable imo- if you think threats are harmful enough to prosecute they should also be harmful enough to censor.
Maybe a more soft form of censorship, such as hiding them behind a cw and a “user was vanned for this post” label rather than outright removal, but you can’t just do nothing.
My personal opinion is that for “edge cases” like cisgender, I should be the one who decides what “slurs” I see or don’t see on the feed, rather than some shmuck twitter mod who watched a YouTube video or whatever.
The thing is, I dislike censorship in general. Corporate or government. Yes it’s the corp’s prerogative, but we’re allowed to criticize corporate censorship and hypocrisy regarding censorship.
I don’t get why people defend censorship by powerful billionaire run companies while criticizing censorship by the government. They’re not that different.
Presumably those failsafes can be circumvented and your character being a cool hacker applies those exploits to their hardware.
