Well, it depends.
This specific application here is for usenet, so it is of no use to those who torrent.
If you do casual coughs torrenting and search for your stuff once in a while and download on your main machine, then no. Theres no need for anything else.
If you self host a media server, maybe a torrent client on the same machine, an arr stack can help out with it to the point that you will no longer visit a torrent site again. Once set up, instead of searching directly on a specific site, you would visit a self hosted page for say, movies, and search there. The search would be handled by another self hosted app which would search from a list of torrent sites you configured.
I haven’t used PHP in a while (10+years) but I didn’t think it was that frustrating as its reputation seems to imply today. I remember their docs all had examples and I found that pretty useful.

Toilet’s chipset is only good for network connection and video recording. Business logic is on servers. As I said, users want to know if their shit is good before they flush so they dont lose a sample in case it is bad.
You may have stumbled on multiplayer shitting though. Conference call with random strangers on the internet, biggest splashback, fastest bowel movement… endless possibilities. Yeah I think always online is the best course of action here.

Maybe it needs a connection cause it takes a picture of your feces and sends it to an AI analysis service. If anomalies are detected, it tells you that you should take the stool sample to a laboratory for further study, then lets you flush. Poof, smart toilet. I could see people with too much money buying this.
Edit: Thought about it some more… why stop at feces images? Why not also have a high resolution camera pointed at your anus taking crowning shots and analyzing those. Tell users if anythings wrong. The future is bright brown boys. The future is brown.

I feel like linux demands an understanding of the relationship between hardware and software more than windows does.
If all personal computer users were tech tinkerers like they were in the 70s and 80s, then linux and its distros would basically be the default OS everyone used. But that is not the world we live in. Microsoft saw a world where everyone was a computer user and Windows was designed in a way to support that vision.
Theres nothing inherently wrong with catering to the lowest common denominator, linux apostles just need to understand that not everyone can be uplifted to their level, nor do they want to be - or, even, should be.
Reolink cameras, cloud not required. Poe is perfect, but wifi works too if you don’t have a central NVR (since it won’t be constantly streaming). Right now, i have them set up to record on motion to their internal sd card and upload to my own ftp server. I dont require 24/7 recording so this works well for me. If you do need it, have an nvr and poe connected cameras and thats pretty much it. My setup allows me to access the video files however i want, the stream however i want and have no third party cloud provider.

We started using more than one device and web accessed mail became the norm. POP3 still exists and you can use mail clients and delete everything off the server. Come to think of it, maybe we can then use syncthing to sync the mail across all other devices? Maybe?

I mean, if studios are doing it more and more and have been doing it across a whole generation, it probably is generational change. Games take 5+ years dev time to make so high budgets are a given. If uch a game fails, it is more likely to tank a studio now. I think hes just making an observation. Nothing too shocking about that.
What Im observing though is more and more indies filling the void with smaller and cheaper games due to easy access to digital distribution. Not exactly a new take as its been hapening for over 15 years now. Interestingly, Epic seems to not take the same stance as Steam does in this space. Where steam gives pretty much any shovelware the same chances, Epic wants to be super picky about these low budget titles. Where is Epic’s Balatro?
If Tim is so focused on publishing/distributing these overblown budgeted games, Epic will miss out on the secondary gaming market where actual fun games truly live. Imo, the generational change is actually indie titles becoming the norm and AAA taking a step back.
Your app has a button on its front page. No one ever presses that button. With good telemetry, you will know this and remove the button. The only thing you need to know is how many times each user opens the app and how many times they tapped that button. Crash reports can include the causes of errors. Without this data the app might have that unused button there forever and crash everytime anyone taps the donate button and you wouldnt know why you arent getting any dontaions.
Telemetry is usually collected on non metered networks. Usually it is opt-out by default, set by the user in the apps settings. Personally, I’d inform the user of this and let them decice on first startup.
Check the CPU, every NUC has a different one. An 11th gen i3 (i3-1115G4) will generally offer better performance than a N100 but a N100 may offer slightly better power efficiency since it was designed for it and is newer. Also when keeping in mind power draw and thermal efficiency, newer CPUs will usually do better. I personally would stear clear of older machines for that reason.
NUC is good for transcoding if you really need it. NUC11 i3 i think has 30w tdp and draws sub 10w at idle and does transcoding fine. Check specific HW codec support for your needs but stick to Intel because they will generally be the best in this space.
Also can confirm Jellyfin doesnt run well on a rpi4. No problem on a NUC.
How much power can these things draw?
