I dated a dude last summer that was telling me about a trans girl he dated years ago that grew up in a trailer park, hooked on meth, and was habitually raped by adults her whole life and everybody in that meth cult thought it was normal.

I’ve known wealthy people who were good people, wealthy people who were bad people, poor people who grew up and embraced greed and became rich, slum lords, teachers that cheat on each other and end up trading spouses and remarry. Old retired people having orgies, bdsm people who want to be whipped bloody to get off, and also 40 year old virgins and people who will never, ever find anybody because of circumstances and they think it’s okay. Forgiving people, people who hold grudges, people who judge blindly, people who live in their own world of privilege, people who are miserable from listening to nothing but npr, sociopath guys who want to get with me, girls who flirt with me but rob me, people absolutely addicted to drugz nonstop everyday but otherwise are perfectly functional members of society, people with iq of 50, people with iq of 170. Families that behave like Mafia and families that behave like community leaders. Families that barely resemble families

There is always a bigger fish in the pond. There is always somebody who pushes your understanding of what an npc can be. Everybody’s so incredibly different, yet in a certain light, we are all the same.

My point is, be yourself. If it sounds off to you, then it isn’t a good fit for you. Use your best judgement, try to think deeply to define your morality by reading some simple philosophy - or not. You’re special and unique and that’s okay. Life is a long journey of finding what you like and what likes you back. It really is worth standing up for what you believe in, but also try to keep an open mind and at least truly understand what other people’s lives are like. But you still need to put your own mask on before you can help others. And remember, it’s your life, it truly is what you make of it.

People are all dumb though and make mistakes. We’re just animals, all learning by making our own mistakes. Some not learning, some deciding that they want power, others deciding on bizarre motives.

You do you, and pave your own way. Be honest with yourself though, that’ll save you a lifetime of time.

I think a lot of them are afraid of being censored by the fascism for being alarmist. And then trying to hold onto a position of relative power via information is a tricky one, because you have to balance not only your tv station, but the backers, your audience, your managers, your coworkers, your position, your career, and also your life. These people are really REALLY risk adverse, for many different reasons. I’m not justifying it, but I’m imagining this is at least the intuition that some may be working through. Explanation is not justification.

I mean it really depends on your perspective.

If voting trump or Harris is a make or break situation for you and your life, then yeah it’s the problem. Which then puts it as a point of privilege to be able to afford to not vote and have this outcome, which IS the cause of democratic loss and rights for b MANY people, and the loss of public health. All for the hope or bet that everybody will wake up after being punched in a face, a lot of people will needlessly die, and go really far left. Like sure I hope that happens too, and it’s… Kinnnd of a valid sacrifice move in the long term, but ONLY if it plays out.

My problem is that it costs so much and only has a small chance to claw our ways back to even where we were, let alone all the way left. I think we were screwed from the get go with all of our compromises, and this is a rocky path. But, there were also OTHER paths besides putting your face in lava to try to get the country and world to realize how bad things could get if we keep going down the moderate road and slowly sliding further and further to the right and into the greedy claws of capitalism and fascism.

So your goal is to change the party that you think is most likely to cave by protest not-voting. Yeah?

I was actually just talking to a person about this. How it’s pretty easy to pursue truth of a topic and continue down the wrong road, all just from a wrong premise or even a missing fact that gives you the wrong perspective and direction. Continuing to deepen an “understanding” of something, stubbornly. Add cognitive biases to a deep impairment, and now you’re ready to run the United States apparently.

I’m a power user, I don’t even want to upgrade or have to reinstall because of how much shit I’ve gone through to get it to this point. Easily a decade old install and very active use. I would lose so much random stuff if I ever had to upgrade or switch. Windows is shit and Microsoft are total bastards for that, there’s no denying it. But for me, it is not so simple as one being better or worse. Maybe if I were in a stage to switch I’d consider it, but still windows is not without its own offerings/positives.
