Yeah, I have no trouble believing Ted Cruz would cower in a supply closet while the patriots on the floor were preparing to defend the House against Ted’s insurrectionist buddies.
Seriously. The damage Trump’s fragile ego has done to our nation is incalculable but undermining the integrity of our free elections is at the top of the list. I fear I’ll never see a Presidential election where a Republican will concede their loss without throwing an hissy fit ever again.
And if Trump wins in November, I definitely won’t, because as he said at a rally in July, “Get out and vote! Just this time. You won’t have to do it anymore! Four more years, you know what? It’ll be fixed, it’ll be fine, you won’t have to vote anymore."

Trump said it was very late in the process now to have a debate.
The second Presidential Debate in 2020 took place on Oct. 22nd. This invitation from Fox News is for Oct. 24th or 27th. And the original CNN debate was scheduled for Oct. 23rd so fuck right off with that excuse, coward.

Yeah, I’ve see people speculating that it could be some corporate hit-job on behalf of book publishers, and I get it, that exotic possibility is attractive, but reality is usually much more mundane. It’s likely to just be some randos doing it for the lulz and IA was vulnerable for whatever reason. Book publishers have sadly been enjoying plenty of success in court against IA. Behind The Bastards did an interesting two part episode covering the role that the media in Italy, Germany and the U.S. played in the rise of fascism throughout Europe during the 1920s and 1930s. Basically, their attempts to maintain neutrality only served to legitimize extremist rhetoric and present fascists as reasonable folks who just has different, but legitimate, ideas. So The New York Times is just perpetuating the status quo here by sane-washing Trump and validating the extremist views of the MAGA movement.

While it’s great news that someone’s finally going to prison I can’t help but feel that 9 years out of the 20 that the prosecution were seeking is still a slap on the wrist. At 68 this may still prove to be a life sentence but I’d feel a lot better if she had received the max and removed all doubt. If anyone deserves it, it’s this woman, the judge even recognized she has no remorse for her crimes and would do it again if she had the chance.
These weak sentences are only going to embolden the next batch of traitors organizing the next coup. And that one is potentially mere weeks away.
