  • I’ve been meaning to check out crowdsec because it seems to fit my niche usage. Wuzah seems VERY powerful and something I could likely use at work so that’s an advantage but very complex. Fail2ban is good at what it does but very simplistic and would require a lot of individual instances that would seem like a bear to maintain. CrowdSec seems like it’s in the Goldilocks zone somewhere in the middle. Pretty powerful, not terribly hard to manage, and not too difficult to install. But I haven’t done anything with any of them yet so I’m not very much help. I am curious what you go with though.

  • As much as I really really like AOC, I wonder if the rest of America isn’t ready to elect a woman. We’ve had two female candidates and both times we got Trump. Granted the first time was Hillary and I held my nose to vote for her (now I’d vote for a fresh dog turd before I’d vote Trump, but something about the whole Hillary thing just rubbed me the wrong way, especially with what happened to Bernie), and the second time they really screwed up at the last minute with Joe. I guess I’m just skittish at this point.

I really hope I’m wrong, because AOC is just a hair behind Bernie in my opinion and I love Bernie. I think she’d be a really intelligent take no shit leader and I am so desperate for that right now.

  • Yeah anything ephemeral is fine like chats and what not. But this idea of using it as support platform is just dumb. You end up with people asking the same question over and over and it either doesn’t get answered because no one is around to answer it or likely because they’re annoyed at the same questions over and over. There is no organization and no institutional knowledge. It’s like it ends up being set up by people who think it’s what the cool kids want. And these giant communities just exacerbate this issue. Everything ends up being noise. It’s the reason I usually ended up turning off the world or general channels in WoW. It just ended up being annoying and distracting.

When I’m trying resolve a situation that I need some sort of support I wanna be able to search if others have had the same issue and see discussion around that topic. I don’t need synchronous communication for that. I don’t care if it was 3 months ago someone had the problem if they figured out how to fix it. The way to do that is forums, Reddit (well before the enshittification), or even Lemmy.
