Yes. The guy just dumped the magazine, you can do that with a normal trigger as well, it just takes a second or two longer. Lets say it takes you 7 seconds to empty a 10 round magazine with a normal trigger. A forced reset trigger lets you do it in 5 seconds. Meanwhile an actual machine gun can do that in half a second.

The thing in question here, forced reset triggers, just let you pull the trigger slightly faster (like less than a seconds difference compared to a normal trigger) than you otherwise would. It really is the most inconsequential decision whether you’re for or against gun ownership. Almost nobody cares about this decision.

The religion is just an excuse, what they’re really looking for is a small and weak minority group that they can attack without getting too much pushback. At something like 1.5% of the population trans people are a small enough minority without too much existing case law defending them so they’re an easy target.
Ultimately Republicans have to have a minority to attack because it distracts the public from noticing how everything else the Republicans are doing is hurting everyone but a select few rich people. It’s political slight of hand, watch the rights violations over here so you don’t notice the embezzlement over there.

Make it even simpler abolish organized religion. You’re free to do whatever you want in the privacy of your home, but get rid of all the temples, churches, mosques, and synagogues. No tax exemptions for religious organizations either (and that one change would kill most Christian churches practically over night).
Maybe it’s time for the DNC to get their own version of Trump. Pick one of the “not here to win, just here for the optics” candidates and dog pile them into the general election. Remember Trump wasn’t actually a serious candidate during his primary, he was just there to gain leverage for his TV show contract negotiation. Would do a lot of good to show the DNC it’s the voters who get to decide not them.
If Democrats take a majority in both houses and win the presidency they can roll back everything Trump has changed. It won’t undo the damage to foreign relations and US soft power, but at least it will stop the hemorrhaging. There’s going to be a deep hole to climb out of, but with Republicans out of the picture we can stop digging deeper.
Exactly how long that takes will depend on how the next couple elections go. Certainly nothing is improving while the Cheeto is in office.
Essentially Congress got tired of having to do actual work because it was taking time away from them soliciting bribes from corporations, which is the profitable part of the job, so they abdicated most of their responsibilities to the president.
Constitutionally the President doesn’t really get to do much except work out the administrative details of everything Congress has ordered him to do. Since Congress abandoned that responsibility the president has a lot more control.
Trump still doesn’t actually have the authority to do most of what he’s doing, but he’s abusing emergency war time regulations as justification despite this not actually being an emergency or war time. Everybody is just too chicken shit to call him on his bullshit though because then they’d have to own up to all the times previous presidents over the last few decades abused the same loopholes.

I wouldn’t hold my breath if I was you. The current DNC is too afraid that they’ll scare off the rich donors if they attack Republicans. They’re worried about collateral damage if they take pot shots and accidentally hit one of the rich donors.
Both the GOP and the DNC want to focus on culture war bullshit rather than anything class related because neither wants to do anything that would run counter to the interests of the ultra wealthy.
He still has over three years left in this term, why the fuck is he already talking about trying for a third? Particularly when there are already so many ways for him to fuck this up so badly he’d never even win a primary let alone a general election.
My best guess is that he’s already out of ideas for things to do that his base would support so he’s floating a third term as a distraction from the ongoing trash fire that his brand new second term is already turning into.
Different groups, different motivations, but they’re headed in the same direction more or less so they’re working together. Trump is working to install himself as a dictator under orders from Putin. He wants to be for the US what Lukashenko is for Belarus. Ultimately he’ll be Putin’s puppet but he’ll largely have free reign within the US which is the only thing he cares about. He’s destroying all the US soft power and doing everything he can to turn all the US allies against it. Domestically he’s painting targets on the backs of as many minorities as he can in order to keep the useful idiots that elected him distracted.
Musk meanwhile is working to establish an oligarchy and to steal or destroy as much of the US government as he can manage. Ultimately his goals are fairly transparent as he’s motivated entirely by naked greed. Since his efforts hurt US foreign relations as much as the domestic situation he’s a useful tool to Trump in his efforts to neuter the US for Putin.
Then you’ve got the Christian nationalists in the GOP that don’t really care about what’s going on as long as they’re allowed to trample all over the first amendment and declare Christianity as the official US religion with all the associated bigotry and discrimination. Since that plays to Trump’s efforts to distract his supporters he’s perfectly fine with it, but likely keeping a close eye on that group lest any of them think about usurping his crown, particularly when he still hasn’t really gotten to go full dictator yet.
It’s not really about the GOP as much as those running under the GOP. Republican candidates don’t need the GOP to bankroll them because they get tons of funding from foreign nationals and corporations who see an opportunity in them to destabilize the US further and increase the wealth gap respectively. The DNC meanwhile mostly see funding from the same sources as a hedge against a Republican loss and in order for them to keep Democrats from running with progressive economic policies. But to do that they only need to dangle just enough cash in front of the DNC to sway their policies, not enough to make them actually win.

I was similar, used Linux for work/programming but Windows for gaming. I refuse to update to Win 11 though, and with 10 going EOL I was faced with a problem. I’ve been using Steam Deck for about a year now with no problems so I figured I’d try going 100% Linux again. Ran my Library through protondb and nearly every single game was supported. I made the cutover about a month ago (just in time as well as literally a week before I made the switch copilot got stealth installed on my system).
So far I haven’t run into a single game that has failed or that I’ve even needed to change the options to get running. Now I don’t play LoL so I can’t speak to that specific game, and I have kept my Win 10 install if I do run into something that I can’t get running that I absolutely can’t live without, but so far I haven’t needed to boot into Windows since I made the switch. I think you might be surprised how few games won’t function in Linux these days.
Most “gun enthusiasts” don’t give a single fuck about these. They’re pretty useless as they just waste ammo and make your aim worse. I have no idea who’s actually fighting for these, but it’s definitely not the majority of gun owners. You’re right, nobody needs these, and almost nobody actually owns them. This decision won’t really change that either. Ultimately this is largely a non-story just as much as it was when they were banned in the first place. There’s far more meaningful things people should be focusing on right now both in terms of gun violence and just in general.
