He was a high school teacher, yes he was a union member.

He’s was also the VP pick endorsed by Bernie so that should probably be enough of a worker focused validation.

    Guide to verifying things:

    • Use a search engine and provide it the relevant details from the picture
    • Look at the results
    • Decide if you believe them

    Alternatively:

    • Use Wikipedia
    • Look at relevant section
    • Open sources
    • Decide if you believe those sources

Could someone please verify the above comment? I’m not sure if I should believe it.

        Follow the formula!

        Step one: wiki

        Step two: ???

Step three: probably not directly profit, but media literacy is important for everyone.

It’s directly from the IBEW website, I’m not sure what more proof you want.

He was a teacher. The teacher’s union here is fairly strong (or at least, pervasive,).

I would love it if the government had a department set up specifically for workplaces and workers who want to get unionized. Give them resources and legal protections to help them set up unions and assist with training on bargaining, etc.

I have always thought that governments should facilitate the forming of unions and worker’s organizing for better conditions

Given most governments’ history of violence against unions and repressing union action in the interest of civil order, I’d rather union organizers have more separation from government. Even at times the administration in power is relatively union-friendly, a different administration always takes over.

That said, it would be nice if the government itself could champion better conditions for workers. Government is about the only power to rival the corporations.
