“Struggling in the polls and charged with running a lackluster presidential campaign, Donald Trump faced reporters on Thursday for an hour-long press conference that swiftly descended into a familiar mess of freewheeling invective, outlandish claims and outright lies,”

That wasn’t the half of it. Trump even claimed to have been “very protective” of Hillary Clinton, the Democrat he beat in 2016, a campaign in which Trump’s supporters regularly chanted – with his encouragement – that Clinton should be locked up.

    In what way?

Clinton was “pretty evil”, Trump said, accusing her of various unsubstantiated misdoings, but “I thought it was a very bad thing take the wife of a president of the United States and put her in jail, and then I see the way they treat me. That’s the way it goes. But I was very protective of her. Nobody would understand that, but I was. I think my people understand it.”

    Ohhhh… Grandpa’s having a stroke again

Most Americans understand that Trump is the first former president to be criminally convicted, on 34 charges of falsification of business records, with sentencing due in New York on 16 September.

Oh no! Trump’s greatest enemy: an accurate mirror!

The past six weeks have shown that the pendulum can swing rapidly and wildly,” Rove wrote. “The Trump campaign is floundering. Mr Trump seems rattled. He’s making plenty of unforced errors and wasting valuable, irreplaceable time on insults, side issues and trivia.

So… just business as usual? I mean honestly has there ever been a time when he was not wasting time on insults, side issues, and trivia?

Trump lied in public and on record 20 times PER DAY, every day - even on weekends - of his term in office. It must be exhausting.

And that doesn’t include the lies he told off the record.

Dementia Don the weird racist rapist with 34 felonies that can’t complete a coherent sentence is too far gone to remember that people died, that and he ordered the flags to be flown at half mast for them. He’s too old. I was going to say he should drop out because he’s pathetic but at this point, he’s helping Harris so I’ll let it go. For now.

How does the brain worm guy have 6%? There are some serious low information voters out there that think he’s anywhere near presidential material.

I’m just hoping that by being very publicly anti-vax, he’s siphoning off more Republican whackjobs from Trump than he is Democrats who see the Kennedy name and nothing else.

I’m not sure how you’re surprised about that when an openly fascist criminal with a couch fucking VP has 42% of votes.

At this point I’d vote for any of the alien overlords over Trump.

Brain worms aren’t so bad, really. The AI overlords have noped the fuck outta here after they found all the porn we have of hot robot chicks…

This is neither here nor there but I’m pretty sure the right sales pitch could convince RFK to eat raw bat meat.

Was this after Joe Rogans endorsement of RFK? Hoping he siphons off Trump voters.

lol, so not a new VP then? The journalists must have regretted being chosen to go to Florida in the summer to cover this, and it might show through in their articles.

Trump says he’s got a big announcement

      Go to Florida

Trump plays a mix tape of his okayest hits, claims to have protected Hillary, and that’s it.

I wonder if Trump is running into an unexpected problem (in addition to all his other problems): habituation. When he first entered politics he had novelty value on his side. Nobody had ever behaved like he did in a presidential race. His mannerisms were unique and new, and even us who detest him found him entertaining - at least to some extent.

But he’s been running this act for a decade now. Everyone’s seen it, and people aren’t asking for encores anymore. Fewer and fewer people are even showing up in the first place. He’s still got his cult behind him, but I think even there the fervour has diminished. He needs new material, but does he still have enough of his wits about him to make up some?

I haven’t come across this thought before but, honestly, it’s very plausible. The novelty is well worn off and his opponents have had plenty of time to adapt while he continues to run the same plays. So, the public isn’t paying as much attention and his opponents are much better prepared to counter.

I watched the whole “press conference” yesterday and that was exactly my impression. It wasn’t even infuriating anymore, I was just bored. He circled around his 3 arguments so often that I thought that even trump fans will have turned off by now.

and even us who detest him found him entertaining

I can vouch for this. Source: I used to watch Venezuela’s Chávez TV appearances while eating popcorn - pure entertainment - until it wasn’t.

The difference here is, Trump is no longer in power (Chavez isn’t either, technically, but his authoritarian party is.)

Americans, don’t fuck this up. Get out and vote!!!
