Seriously, I have only met like five trans people in my entire life. None of them have been a burden on me in any way. People should vote on issues that actually affect their own lives.

Context: for a long time theater was not considered something that women were allowed to do. It was considered a disreputable job. It also tended to attract what we would now consider to be LGBTQ individuals. That part hasn’t changed actually all that much as I understand it. But they had up having men play female characters. The original short ‘Scavengers’ caught my attention and was beautiful and had interesting flora and fauna design, and I mostly enjoyed it.
BUT
The steps taken during the short felt like a poorly contrived Rube Goldberg machine of individual segments of brilliant and interesting interactions that were kind of shoehorned into each other as more of a portfolio of the art style and a bunch of separate interesting vignettes than it did tell a narrative about an actual functional ecosystem.
The alien biological interactions were rooted more in the purpose of showing off art style, as species that relied on the interactions that the humans ‘goaded’ them through would have gone extinct long before human’s arrival and I literally see no natural mechanism in universe that could replace 80% of it.
I know it’s such a minor deal to most people but the fact that the ecosystem is so mechanically unbelievable makes it near impossible to fully like the short.
And I don’t want to take the time risk to find out the same thing with the series. I really do appreciate the recommendation but I don’t understand why my pique doesn’t bother more people. Especially biologists…
