That’s called betting on a dead horse
🎶I want to hold her head under water…🎶
I hope they all go broke trying to get this clown back in office
Just imagine if all of these billionaires were actually paying tax instead of pumping hundreds of millions into political parties.
Worse yet, they’re using these donations as a way to avoid paying taxes and get tax breaks.
Do you think the ultra wealthy would ever, ever, EVER part with their money if they didn’t expect some sort of return on it or advantage given directly to them?
They would not. The only reason she’s doing this, is she’s getting a massive tax incentive, and if trump does win, then she’ll get another historical tax break for the ultra wealthy that would more than cover that donation 10x over at the cost of the middle class paying even more in taxes.
They are obviously investing in their future. They must be expecting returns a hundred fold what they are putting into it.
So you’re implying this woman expects to profit $10 billion…?
Not through a lump sum, but in tax breaks, grants and federal contracts for her and her company over the trump administration.
That isn’t that much these days. Not only that, but she is far more likely trying to protect her money. The only worse than not gaining power, for these people, is the potential to lose it.
That isn’t that much these days
…10 billion, aka 10,000 million dollars is a fuck ton of money. Unless we have a catastrophic financial meltdown that will result in millions starving, it will remain a fuck ton of money. Even with a vast amount of additional inflation.
Even 1 billion dollars is a lot of money, even to billionaires. So you kind of lost me. I don’t get where you are coming from here.
I’m saying that another comment said she was worth $28bil. That’s not even half her worth and she’s just one (obscenely rich) person.
But the second part was more important. She “only” spent $100mil and is looking to make sure that people in power don’t take away that aforementioned $10bil. She’s not exactly looking to make the money back but rather trying not to lose it(frankly I would consider it the return of stolen goods and she can go fuck herself but that’s not how it looks in her rotten mind).
I agree these statements seem mildly contradictory in severity but the point still stands. She wants to spend a little to not lose a lot.
Half a person’s wealth, at any level, is necessarily a lot of money to that person …
Sure, though they would still be left with an obscene amount of wealth and would never have to know a single iota of suffering for the entirety of their miserable life. Their perspective is fucked and their addiction is strong so they’re pissing their pants all the same but logically speaking they have not thing to worry about.
So yes, I should have chosen different words, but you seem to be altogether missing the greater point of my comment and are hyper-focused on something that just isn’t consequential and I probably could have just left out entirely.
They’ll spend money on literally anything but the less fortunate.
Imagine how much tax revenue we could get if we started taxing churches!
Here’s an idea.
Political donations above $500 should be taxed at 50%. At least.
Wanna spend $100,000,000 buying an election. You gotta pay the irs $100,000,000 too. No exceptions. No loopholes. No getting away with it. If you try, instant audit.
Political donations ARE limited. BUT this isnt technically a political donation and a gratuity isnt technically a bribe. Thanks supreme court.
… as direct cash payments to the poorest Americans.
Wouldn’t that just make the poorest people vote for those donating the most money ?
Nah, better just use the extra cash to bail out some more banks
90%
I mean, we have to pay gift tax if we give more than $13.61 million to a person. I thought corporations (PACs) are people now.
You have a lot of upvotes for the math being so wrong. Lol. 100% tax would still just mean it costs twice as much to buy an election. Just ban the shit.
Citizens United is the 2nd worst thing that’s ever happened to this country. (The first was Reagan)
That’s the best idea I’ve seen on this topic.
Sheldon Adelson (followed closely his gaggle of security) nearly hit me with his rascal scooter at the Venetian once. I stumbled out of the way and we exchanged dirty looks.
That’s all. I just haven’t gotten to share that anecdote since my “Hooray Sheldon’s dead” party.
“Hooray Sheldon’s dead” party
This sounds like something that should be celebrated on a fairly consistent basis.
I join you in a virtual symbolic jig upon his grave
I will urinate in solidarity.
The less money she has, the better off we all are. Sadly, most of this money will shift into bullshit tech-based ad businesses and not local ones.
I don’t think these crusty old fuckers realizes advertising isn’t probably isn’t going to be swaying any voters at this point. Trump and his team of idiots have him out in front of the media cameras so much and just making an ass out of himself, that’s more damaging than ads in front of videos on Facebook or whatever.
She’s worth $28 billion. Unfortunately she will miss $100 million like the rest of us would miss $50.
Homie, I’d be missing $0.50 right now
100,000,000 is 0.35714285714286% of 28,000,000,000
So given the median savings in the USA is about $8000, it would feel like $25 does to most of us.
What does election interference cost Michael, $10?
WILL NO ONE RID US OF THESE TURBULENT BILLIONAIRES
This shit shouldn’t even be legal. I see their propaganda constantly if I watch broadcast TV. Just doom and gloom about Biden’s economy and immigrants committing crimes with no numbers or sources to back any of it up. It’s straight-up fearmongering is all it is…
The only message the GOP has is fear mongering. If they stopped that they’d have to stand on their record of helping the people, which there is none in the last 50-60+ years.
Longer. Conservatives were the slavery party, just under the Democrats name. Then there was the Southern Strategy.
It’s straight-up fearmongering is all it is…
And for large groups of people, that’s all it takes.
She’s one of the worst people int he world, hands down. She’s a billionaire megadonor and behind almost every horrible person in power around the world.
I never understood what throwing money at the problem will do.
You can only run so many campaign ads.
What a waste of money.
moneyoxygen
Isn’t that Sarah Palin in old people make-up?
She’s just highlighting the importance of having caps on campaign finance contributions by any one entity, persons, or person in a given election cycle. It’s not a democracy if something the majority of people want can be overpowered by a hand few of people with money
Israel != Judaism
Zionism != Judaism
Judaism still bad, because Abrahamic faiths bad
