He’d know better than I would where we stand, but I’m really not getting my hopes up. The incentives to come to a cease fire just aren’t naturally all that great for either side.

Netanyahu needs war to keep himself comfortably in charge. Hamas is doing more damage to Israel than has been done in generations, just of a diplomatic sort.

Neither side particularly cares about the civilians caught in the middle, they have bigger objectives than just Gaza, and those people are just in the way and/or a resource to be exploited.

We can sweeten the pot like we did in the Camp David Accords, but how much can we really offer that they want?

      People believe that?

It seems to me to be wrong to get your hopes up, since there have been so many failures. Still, persistence is part of the peace maker’s job.

This iteration will determine if Iran attacks. Isreal, for its part is done in Gaza.

There are carrots and sticks for both sides.

Biden would have a huge hill to climb here. Netanyahu has a lot of incentive to wait until after our election to take this sort of action. And meanwhile, he can choose between giving Biden a huge win or embarrassing Biden, again.

But I have repeatedly seen Biden succeed when faced with difficult diplomatic problems. So I have to admit that personally, this does get my hopes up a little.

Yeah. I don’t think he’d yank our chain either, he wouldn’t say he thinks its close unless he actually thinks its close.

Frankly, when it comes to peace in the Middle East, I wouldn’t say I thought it was close until it was actually done. But I’m not a politician, so what do I know?

We’ve been dealing with these two scumbags, Bibi and Putin, for well over 2 decades. 2 damn decades of tyrants in power…
