Good for the public bad for their current leadership. I’m not sure why they didn’t endorse as a group knowing what Trump et al have planned.

Because enough of the members were duped by trump and the leadership is too much of a coward to even try to educate them.

I feel like the head of a Union giving an endorsement to someone the minority of their members want isn’t a good look either, press would be horrible and likely make Harris look worse. Unions are supposed to be Democratic, not a hierarchy. Seeing Individual branches from battleground states endorsing Harris, like florida, to me is way stronger of a story than letting republicans run with calling things fixed because a national union spoke over the majority of it’s members.

This is why democracy is inherently flawed. It’s too easy to manipulate people to vote against their interests because humans are so emotional. So when the majority of your constituents are shit-bags are you supposed to do what they say?
Humanity needs a benevolent leader who does what’s best for us.
          Shame that’s not realistic.

I think it’s less about Trump and more about their tenuous relationship with Joe Biden and the DNC. If Biden hadn’t broken up a railroad strike and cursed at an ostensible union member publicly, and the DNC hadn’t banned them from speaking at the convention, the Teamsters leadership would probably feel differently.

If it’s anything like my mother’s state educational association, the union probably is trying to educate their members. But it’s hard to compete with the coordinated propaganda from the GOP and right-wing media.

Also you should throw in a heavy dose of “Oh, the leopard won’t eat my face!”

Curious if this indicates either a leadership challenge in the union, or perhaps a fracturing of the union to some degree? I’m sure more state chapters are not chill with the failure to endorse Harris.

The way I read the tea leaves, the larger union was too divided. The union president spoke at the Republican national convention so make of that what you will.

The speculation was that the individual union sections can now endorse who they want. Now instead of one big announcement, we’re getting announcements that are getting a lot of press coverage because of the national non-endorsement.

Trump probably thought he got a win but now it’s day after day of endorsement for Harris and you know that’s got to be eating at him.
