You aren’t required to vote for him in the primary, but failing to vote for the Democrat in the general is how we got Trump again.
If you don’t want another shitshow of a Republican president, you have to vote for the Democrat.

I don’t think so. A white centrist man beat Trump in 2020. That’s all the qualification it takes apparently which is handy because that’s all Newsom has to offer but I can see him coming out on top.
At some point you people are going to have to accept the fact that there were extenuating circumstances in 2020. And without those Trump would have been a consecutive two-term president.

Biden won in 2020 on a “not Trump” platform. He then proceeded to do fuck-all for working people, and fuck-all to prevent another Trump term. Dems figured they could skate by with the same type of campaign again, and they were wrong.

Leftists have been very clear about why the Democrats are failing their voters. A party that supports Capitalism can not support workers, simple as.

People would listen if they actually showed up. If leftists are so numerous then it shouldn’t be a problem to get many candidates elected. See mamdani. But in general they do not.
So either that many leftists don’t exist or their policies aren’t actually that popular OR theyre too lazy or ideological to go vote.
Either way, it ensures “establishment” candidates go on to the general election.
The only time your voice matters is in the voting booth. Far too many eschew that.
Not “anything” the Democrats will do, just the great, vast majority of things. Like running terrible candidates, on unpopular platforms, screwing over the voters, fighting to keep popular politicians and polices from getting on the ballot…
Then maybe we should offer the left a candidate that they’ll vote for. It’d be a nice change of pace.

You’ve got to remember that you and I are not the average Democratic primary voter. Clearly there are plenty of Democrats who think this is a good idea.

You should read the article. In the pole referenced Newsom is in 6th place. He got a higher than expected percentage of the poling which the author has blown up here with their deceptive clickbaity headline. Possibly in an effort to make people think that Newsom is the favorite.
Not that I’d be really happy to vote for the actual favorite in the pole which is Kamala Harris. Though I would absolutely vote for her over Newsom any day of the week.
Why not? I don’t know much about him except that he isn’t 300 years old like the rest of the Democrats.

He’s just another slimy corporatist owned by the ultra wealthy, but throws a bone to the social issues of Democrats. Pretty much the same strategy that modern Democrats have had for the past 40+ years. I will absolutely vote for him in the general or support him in pushing against Trump/Repulicans, but he’s one of my least favorite Democrats now.
His willingness to throw trans kids under the bus is one of my problems with him.
Trans kids, homeless people, immigrants. All safely tucked under the bus. But hey, he’s favored by the rich white Democrats of California.
