I once installed HP shitbox printer drivers from the command line in 30 seconds, and the shitbox printer just…worked.
My heart soared higher than the eagle. I touched the face of the one true FOSS God, and felt that thing when astronauts have epiphanies about the Earth. 10/10, would recommend.
Vibecoding games about cats in HTML. All retro style, easy to play type stuff.
Up to 5 so far.
Well, to be fair it’s also proof that people do not value privacy, and that the means by which actual privacy can be obtained are few and narrow.
It also really drives home the fact that our systems of IDs, licensure, taxes, property purchase, etc. are designed for an analog 20th century world. We need new systems based on modern technology, bit not in a way that simply contracts out to the very companies that put us here.
I’ve done OSINT research and that alone converted me into a privacy advocate. Seeing how Alphabet, Meta, and MS have allowed creep to get training data… Whew. It’s breathtaking and complicated beyond the ability to explain in 114 characters.
Y’all, we are cooked. Currently. Present tense. If you aren’t freaked out already, you’re missing about 85% of reality.
The underrated combos is where the gains are.
Anchovies with olives and capers.
We all know pineapple and Canadian bacon (can also be Spam).
Pepperoni and jalapeños.
Blue cheese, fig, and caramelized onion.
Pesto as the sauce under the cheese and fresh or sun dried tomatoes on top.
I mean, there’s real data to support this. If you don’t believe it that’s like me not believing that hurricanes exist just bedsitter I haven’t been through one.
I’ve spent a career in places with very little rule of law or effective governance.
The only thing that can give you a sliver of hope is to physically be close to a community that is tight-knit and competent homesteaders. This is African village rules. Force and money are all that matters. Life is cheap. Food is scarce and untrustworthy unless you farm it yourself. Cities are nightmares of abuse with pockets for the super-wealthy behind walls.
Real life examples like Lagos are hard to explain to Americans. Parable of the Sower gets close and is a book worth a read.
If you poke around on sites like Nightcafe or AI image subreddits, there’s a lot of generic oil paintings, a lot of 1 or 2 subject matte paintings, and stuff that looks like the covers of bad fantasy novels.
Tuta is fine, but very basic.
The stuff with Proton… It depends on what you need. Just an alternative to degoogle your life, it’ll work for now, but they may slide into a more pro Broligarchy stance in years to come. For some people, they’re still a little too invasive for what they want.
Email is inherently insecure, so its best to lock down a few and just fluidly transition around as you need.
I actually really like Ian as well.
His name is Lemmy…Lemmy? Do we say Lemmy like last name and first name? Or just once, like Madonna?
Me after a restart following a seemingly harmless package update:
“Ah, curse your sudden but inevitable betrayal!”
“Let me check for the address and a map in this phone book.”
You can’t force people to care or act in their own self interest. The US will sooner adopt the metric system and mandatory digital IDs.
