Open source doesn’t care about libre software.
Only when convenient and if it’s not from a reputable source. I will audit random projects on Github but I’m not fucking auditing Firefox.
Check this out. It only works on KDE, you have to compile it from source and it’s a pain in the ass to configure but it seems like it has all the features you’re looking for.
You might also need to add
set(CMAKE_POSITION_INDEPENDENT_CODE ON)
to the CMakeLists to get it to compile.
Such is life.
Other than SteamOS on my SteamDeck, no but I was considering making the switch to Kinoite.
I don’t think they mean necessarily handhelds but definitely console-like machines. Like the OG steam machines.
I actually like immutable OSes exactly because most people do have a habit of blowing up their computers.
Ever. It’s not a desktop OS.
Make the switch to Linux, by all means but I don’t think you should use SteamOS as a desktop OS.
Windows 11 is to Windows 10 what XP was to 2000. Stop it.
Macsimize6 or something like that
For a second, I thought Canonical had made a YouTube front-end.
What if my team is the “use whatever and stfu about systemd” team?
Same workflow here but on KDE. I even have an extension that sends any maximized screen to its own desktop and deletes the desktop when it’s closed or no longer maximized.
I used to think I didn’t have a use case for one either but you know how sitting at your desk takes slightly more than zero effort? Well, that tiny amount of effort made it so whenever I actually sat my ass down, I would end up only playing “heavy” games like Skyrim while ignoring stuff like Bastion, Cuphead, Hollow Night, the LEGO Games, Pacman World, etc. Like, I’m not gonna drag my ass to my office to play Thimbleweed Park. Having a handheld got rid of that mental block and I’ve finally finished several games I otherwise wouldn’t have, like pretty much anything that needs to be emulated. I even started buying games specifically because I wanted to play them on it.
Don’t even try to say GNOME is a touch screen design. I’ve used it with a touchscreen, it’s just bad design. What bothers me the most is that is close to being good if not for a couple of stupid decisions like having no system tray.
Everything else works just fine, unless the distro made an insane choice like having XTerm as the default terminal emulator.
Amazing! Or it would have been in an alternate timeline where the RX7600 and RTX4060 were just released. Over here in the real world, Intel is more than a year late to the party with a lackluster product. NVIDIA and AMD have new cards releasing in early 2025 and, given that the B580 is within 15% of last year’s offerings in 1080p, it’s probably about to be outclassed. I really hope its existence at least forces the other two to stop with the 8GB of VRAM insanity but unless you need to upgrade right now, you shouldn’t care about this. So can we stop pretending it’s a good product?
Yep, it’s hard to make time for a several hours long hobby when you’re an adult.
strategy games usually need an hour just to remember what I was doing last, so I tend to wait until I can block out an entire evening
lol yeah, it’s like planning date night with your game.
I don’t only do dishes. Also, there are short videos.
