They both are. Republicans control the house and much of the senate. Effectively control the judiciary. Democrats don’t control much even when they have a majority and strictly only control one of 3 branches of government at the moment.

There’s two candidates now, the way the system works is you vote for one or the other.
Now if you want a different person you pick someone in the next primary and volunteer in their campaign and donate money to them.
