Of course he is, and they’re going to let him do it. If any of you still think the justice system is going to stop him then you haven’t been paying attention. That ship sailed years ago.

I don’t think it’s going to happen, but that’s me the perpetual optimist, hanging on to dear life to the idea that justice should prevail, and be the order of the day. Trump has bullied and wriggled his way to getting clear, for so long, I’ll be pleasantly surprised if the judge once again tell him to shove it up his crooked ass.

Former U.S. President Donald Trump is seeking to delay sentencing in his New York criminal hush money case until after the Nov. 5 election, citing “election-interference objectives.”

Yes - and wow, they’re being pretty cavalier to admit in their filing that election interference is their objective.

Note to self. You can’t be imprisoned if you say you’re running for office and that it’s election interference.

Merchan should make a motion for Trump and his defense team to recuse themselves from litigation on the grounds that they are cleary unqualified to practice law.

True. It won’t be any different than James Comey announcing investigation into Clinton emails while hiding countless treasonous violations by Trump

This was an election interference case, and titling/framing it as a hush money case downplays the importance of this case and why he should be sentenced before the election.

Putting this off until after the election delays any justice for New Yorkers (and the nation really) for charges he was already found guilty of. This is just Trump trying to delay his having any consequences for his rampant crime history, and looking to use the Supreme Court (win or not) to try and get this case to go away.

there is no valid countervailing reason for the Court to keep the current sentencing date on the calendar

The reason to keep it on the calendar is because Trump was found guilty of 34 felonies.

There is no basis for continuing to rush.

Trump was found guilty of 34 felonies in May and sentencing has been delayed until September. This is in no way rushed.

Not only that - but he’s a flight risk, literally laying out his plan to go to Venezuela when he loses the election.

Sentencing should have happened a month ago. He’d never have been shot at at his dumb rally, if here were in prison / house arrest like he was supposed to be. Like any other offender would have been.
