Donald Trump said Sunday that if no peace deal is reached with Iran in the next 48 hours, “we’re blowing up the entire country.”

The president made the threat Sunday to ABC News’ senior political correspondent Rachel Scott in response to a question regarding whether his previously stated timeline of two to three weeks for a deal was still accurate.

Concerns have been raised about targeting civilian infrastructure in Iran and the consequences that could bring.

I mean…he’s the one that controls earths largest supply of nukes. He has the cards. It’s just a matter of if the order will be followed.

Genuinely the first thing I thought when he was elected. They’re going to hand this deranged lunatic the codes and he will find any reason to use them just to prove how powerful he is.

And I’ve also been told I was overreacting at every turn, until he did exactly what I said he would do. And then they said I was overreacting about the next thing he ended up doing. “Of course he’s going to give up the presidency if he loses the election, he’s not going to try anything weird or illegal, don’t be ridiculous!”

Yeah, it’s been a very long, exhausting decade.

There is no button he has unilaterally press and never has been its an order that must be given to others who actually launch

Yes, but they’re also legally required to follow that order, except for certain circumstances. The question is if someone in the chain will have the moral backbone to stop said order, and it can’t just be the person launching it as there are more that can be launched. It needs to be someone high up in the chain. It may also require them physically stopping him from just asking the next person.

And when a Democratic president gets in, the Americans will be like, “Oh, but we’ve changed! We’re going to be much better now! Really!”.

It’s like a psychotic ex-boyfriend begging you to take him back, because he’s really sorry and will do better next time. Promise!

This guy has never had any clue what he’s doing, only what he wants and how to get it. Now, he’s finally hit something completely out of his grasp and just like any narcissist, he’s not handling it well.

He will continue to chew through the entire world consuming people, economies, countries, and society until he’s stopped. This is the danger of dictators.

This comment could have been posted word-for-word in February/March 2020 and it would have had the exact same meaning. Even if Trump completely blunders this conflict it will ultimately be someone else’s mess to clean up.

I live in a country where this one guy, all by himself, is allowed to just decide to murder thousands and thousands of people just because he wants to, over and over again. And, there’s no consequences, no check, no pushback, nothing that the other 300 million of us can do about it. Why do we tolerate this? Why is this just accepted as normal, even by the majority of people who disagree with him? I just cannot get over what a shit country the US is. Our government, our politics, our media, our culture, the people who live here are just endlessly awful. Will some nation, please just fucking do something about us?

The problem is, this very very tiny portion of like minded evil people have installed themselves via politics or capitalism into untouchable roles which drive the country in any way they wish, regardless of what the majority wants. And even physical violence isn’t really a protest option as the police and military are some of the organizations they control. So the US is basically the same as China or Russia now.

Trying to say that the US doesn’t need or care about the strait of Hormuz on Wednesday, then following it up with today’s post was a choice.

Guy has exactly one tactic: start from a relative position of power and bully the little guy. It’s not working like he assumed and he’s floundering.
